Marriage Lab

Are you newly married?  Are you interested in meeting other newly married couples? Marriage Lab is a ministry to couples in their first year of marriage and consists of a monthly gathering of newly married couples grouped with seasoned mentor couples, led by Dr. Brent Bounds. Marriage Lab focuses on building strong marriages right from the beginning. The time together will be very practical and interactive, addressing topics such as how to improve communication, conflict resolution, finances, intimacy and more, and will provide valuable community through your first year of marriage. Redeemer Marriage Lab kicks off in September and enjoys an autumn overnight retreat at the amazing Skytop Lodge in the Poconos, PA. We then continue to meet one Wednesday per month at 7:30 p.m. from October through May.

Space is limited to 24 couples.

Preference will be given to those in their first year of marriage and to regular attenders or members of Redeemer. You must be married prior to September 22, 2018. If you are affiliated with a church other than Redeemer, please contact Ellen Vandevort-Wolf at [email protected] to be put on a wait list.

Dates: Kick off September 12, 2018 Retreat September 22-23, Monthly Gatherings: October 3, November 7, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1   Note: Because the retreat is integral to the year, we do ask every couple to attend. We also ask that you commit to most, if not all, the monthly sessions as we regularly have a wait list of interested participants.

Cost: $600/couple   This includes costs for monthly meetings and all costs related to the retreat (room, board, bus for both people) This fee represents roughly half of the actual cost; the rest is being subsidized. We think you will feel it is well-worth the money! If this cost upfront is a barrier, please contact Ellen at [email protected] for information on payment options/partial scholarships.

Redeemer Young Couples Network

The Redeemer Young Couples Network (RYCN) is a lay-led ministry whose goal is to foster deeper connection and community among couples in the first several years of marriage. RYCN organizes events such as First Sunday, where couples meet at various places around the city for times of fellowship. For more information, please email [email protected]

MarriageWorks is a monthly series for couples married 2+ years that will help us understand, repair and strengthen our marriages. Our time together will be practical and interactive, with new approaches on how to share disappointment and fight well, grow in connection, communication and forgiveness, think about mission and hospitality as a couple, and will also help build community between Downtown couples. Married couples will be grouped with mentor couples.

We will kick off with an in-city retreat on Friday evening, October 12 and Saturday morning, October 13, and then meet monthly on a Thursday night from 7 to 9:15 p.m.

MarriageWorks is for married members and regular attenders of the Redeemer Downtown congregation.

Registration for the 2018-2019 MarriageWorks cohort will open in early September, 2018. To receive information on registration opening, please let Kari Jo know that you are interested. Kari Jo Cates, [email protected]

Due to the participatory nature of the series, we encourage those who can commit to full participation to join us. Missing more than two sessions impacts the learning community, as each person contributes a unique and valued perspective.
