Marla Jea

Community Group Intern

A beautifully Calvinist family adopted Marla when she was two. She grew up in Arizona and moved to NYC in 1999 to work in publishing. During her first 15 years in New York, she carried on a tumultuous love/hate relationship with the city but was eventually won over by the power of community, inertia and a new Trader Joe's opening up in her neighborhood. Now she plans never to move out of Brooklyn. Some of her favorite pastimes are baking scones, playing board games with her family, being vulnerable and buying all the things at Michaels.
